The city once consisted of 11 gates but now only 5 remained from which Sun gate is the first one. Sun gate also known as Suraj Pol is the city's main entrance which is the longest among all the original passages and is located at the eastern side of Udaipur.

City Palace amidst shimmering Lake Pichola is beautifully constructed by pure white marble and granite. It is the largest palaces or rather say a complex in Rajasthan comprising so many palaces and Ghats in it. It is a perfect piece of architectural excellence which provides a merge of Medieval, European and Chinese architecture no doubt why considered to be one of the main attractions in Udaipur. Udaipur accord some other charismatic architectural buildings including Chittaurgarh, the Jain temples of Ranakpur, the mountain retreat of Abu and the spectacular fortress of Kumbhalgarh etc.

It is advisable to visit this city in between the months of September to March as this is the best time when weather is most convenient and at its pleasantest state. Mewar festival held on the onset of spring season in this place which is yet another time to visit Rajasthan's festive spirit at its best.
